Explain why you selected the artifact.
I selected the Needs Analysis because it was one of the major projects that clearly embody the objectives of the course. This project forced us to think about things we had not necessarily been asked to before.
The article analysis I included because I felt like the process of analyzing articles to find solutions to proposed problems was a valuable exercise. I count this as a strength of mine.
Include how the skills and knowledge gained from creation of the artifact advanced your skills and teaching practice.
From this course, I gained a new insight into what goes on in the background, or behind the scenes prior to the implementation of a change or a new program. More work and thought goes into a program than I might have thought before this course. I always considered myself an analytical thinker, and this course strengthened those skills.
Identify what gaps in your skills and knowledge still exist. Suggest solutions to address the gaps.
This course seemed a bit out of place to me. It seems that this was a course designed to be an intro into a career path of the instructional designer. It was good in that I had no idea that such a line of work actually existed. The exercises we went through and the case studies we did in class were a good introduction into this career path. I do not feel that this one course was adequate to prepare me to take a job as an Instructional Designer. I know that if I desired that job, I would need more training, instruction, and practice. I do not see myself taking that path.
